Digid – Rainbow EP [ALBION003]

Today see’s the release of ALBION003, a four track EP from Digid, Dubbing Sun and Egoless. This is the third vinyl instalment for Albion Collective, who have been pushing the deeper sound of dubstep for the past few years, with 001 featuring Jafu and Vaun. Here at UKBM, we are keen fans of Digid’s infectious dub stepper rhythms and he featured in our UKBMix series a few years ago. Check his mix here >

The first track entitled ‘Rainbow Dub’ is a heavy soundsystem stomper. Compiled of thumbing kick drums, skippy high hat arrangements and his use of reverb/delay demonstrate his ability to create really original sounds – but still upholding dubstep’s influences, Dub and Reggae. ‘Come Dung’ features second on the EP – opening with a floaty horns section over marching drum rolls and percussive elements. Growing synth bass and continuous kicks keep this track feeling upbeat and a certified head banger. Melodic vibes continue throughout the rest of the track, building in ambience and effect.

Recent Deep Medi signee ‘Egoless’ takes control of remix duties, on ‘Dread Come Again’. The original track, featuring Dubbing Sun features a bassline that will rattle any good soundsystem! Repetitive ‘reggae’ style stabs alongside dark synth bass and some horns makes for a fantastic combination. Egoless’ version is a little more minimal, but just as punchy, and comes with his own analogue goodness!

This EP is available on Vinyl and Digital direct from Albion Collective bandcamp!
