Stepping up, stepping in for the 62nd instalment of our UKBMix series is the Birmingham-based label owner and badman selector Werdna.
He is known for genre-bending and lethally executed DJ sets which have been broadcast over radio stations such as Rinse France and Subtle, but he is perhaps best known as being head honcho of forward thinking label Circular Jaw.
The imprint, born in 2015, are 16 releases deep and boasts incredible music from artists such as Yak, Avernian, Denham Audio, Doctor Jeep, Agrippa and more with the next release coming from Vexxe next month so keep your eyes on the Circular Jaw Bandcamp.
To pin the label’s sound down to one word would be impossible but to describe it as eclectic, exciting and absolutely brilliant is a no brainer.
What Werdna has done is encapsulated those qualities into this mix and we very much look forward to you listening and enjoying as much as we did
Speaking to us about his mix, Werdna described it as, “One hour & twenty five minutes of new, unreleased & forthcoming bass music from labels and artists doing bits in their own right. A mixture of Techno, Breaks, Leftfield, Garage, Dub & Bass to work them subs out.”
Biggest influence on your music?
Dubstep & going to my first rave at Rainbow Warehouse.

It’s being made as I write this. Currently untitled they said.

Joy Orbison – Hyph Mngo. Reckon a lot of people would say the same.

Mickey Pearce.

CDJS & Turntables, it’s in the blend.

Timeless for me – Jamie XX – In Colour, the sleeves still framed on my wall.
Favourite record label?
At the moment it’s got to be Livity Sound; Bristol is the place I’m planning on taking my label to.
Favourite lockdown snack?
Ramen noodles and vegetables.
