Laurence Reading aka Halogenix returns to Critical Music with his new EP ‘Dragonforce’, set for release on 8th May.
Featuring 4 tracks, Halogenix has used the Japanese comic book as inspiration for the EP’s title and opening track ‘Dragonforce’. For those of you who know Halogenix will know he has been making waves within the DnB scene for a good few years now.
The second track sees Halogenix switch into a more soulful and melodic number. ‘Independent’ takes us on a journey full of warped vocal samples, mixed beautifully alongside glitchy drum and synth patterns. ‘Tekina’ brings even more ingenuity with a delicate light/dark fusion whilst ‘Reminisce’ is awash with warmth and ethereal feels.
One thing I’ve realised from listening to Halogenix over the years is that for every new EP/LP he puts out it reveals a new (metaphorical) string to this talented producers bow. It’s also clear that 170bpm is where his natural sonic habitat lies. It’s “a tempo that gives a wide enough canvas for him to explore, invent, subvert and never feel like he’s treading old ground.”
Lara started out at the age of 16 as a blogger, setting up her own platform, MakeItGood which ran for 5 years, featuring mixes and interviews with Dubstep artists in collaboration with FatKidOnFire.
“With over 6 years experience working in music promotion, I feel so glad to be running UKBM again, creating more space for new comers and talented artists. It’s amazing to be able to promote and support Bass culture!”
