#ThrowbackThursday: Jamie XX – Sleep Sound

Not so much a ‘throwback’ but still a damn good piece of music.

Not so much a ‘throwback’ but still a damn good piece of music.

Such a special track. Released only in 2014 so I’m not sure it complete warrants the title of ‘throwback’ just yet but it came into my mind and I had an irresistible urge to share this beautiful piece of music.

Full of character, like so many of Jamie XX’s other productions, Sleep Sound is a full on journey full of chapters swirling down a spiral staircase of audio wonder with transitions that make your heart sing. At points it almost sounds like 2 tracks layered in a seamless fashion on top of each other, one: an empty warehouse, two-step shuffling beat, the other, a strawberry sundae at a Summer picnic in a field of Sunflowers.

enjoy one of my favourite tunes with me by hitting play.
