The Bass Drop – Early March

The Bass Drop takes a look at some exciting new genres and producers releasing pieces in the first half of March

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]With Daft Punk deciding it is time to press the self destruct button, many are grateful for the music we have received since 1993 as well as a little anxious about where the next pioneers will arise from.  Fortunately, I’ve found some great producers to keep your eye on who are releasing pieces at the beginning of March.

BEATPPL – DIGGIN’ IN THE WIRES

GUEDRA GUEDRA – VEXILLOLOGY

[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”10815″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]This LP is has a mixture of pieces packed full of variation and melody.  It is both a laid back thought provoking listen and a jump up and dance like nobody is looking innate groover.  Picture yourself comfortably cruising along a motorway at 150mph and not even realising the speed.  The artistry that has gone into Vexillology makes the experience so encapsulating that you can get lost in the sound and forget that you are in excess of 150bpm.  A mixture of bassy footwork, tribal African swing and free jazz, I recommend starting with Seven Poets and letting it run.  Listen / Buy

N-GINE – GIRLS AREN’T THE SAME

[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”10816″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The title may give a different impression, but this is a track that appears to tell a story of love.  A person discovering that their current lover is far from the same as the others leading him to become torn between staying or leaving.  Illustrated first in words before a vivid instrumental retelling of the torment.  Captured with sweet synths in harmony, grooving along with a big beat and prominent basslines.  N-Gine is a fantastic producer who creates enjoyable listens across the electronic spectrum.  Check out his volume 1 of Exterminate The Human Mind which just dropped in February to hear more of his style.  It is the exciting start of at least 7 more releases scheduled to drop on Ditto this year.  Listen / Buy

ANDREW MALONE – HEAR ME OUT

[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”10818″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Such singles rarely come along where you can hear the progression of synth lead bass crossing over into pop and seldom is it carried out with touching emotion and haunting ambience.  The Seattle based DJ, Andrew Malone, has developed a knack for injecting feelings, energy and passion into his sets, which he has now transmuted into his productions.  Check out this release on XTRXX records.  Listen / Buy

LACES – FIELD FALLACY XVI

[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”10817″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Since Sunvocus dropped back in November, Field Fallacy XVI has been eagerly awaited and is soon to drop.  We can look forward to more core shaking kick thumps, skewed vocal play and dream filled ambience flowing through the 5 tracks.  Melbourne based Laces continues to display his ability to levitate a listener with instrumental interludes, and within the switch of a bar, strike you into submission.  A fantastic listen throughout with great collaborations on Prosperity with Ninajirachi and Drop My Cell with Darcy Baylis which highlight how adept Laces is at altering style whilst maintaining the theme.  Listen / Buy[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
