Von D – Wicked Scam EP

US based label Dub-Stuy invite Parisian producer and DJ, Von D to the label with ‘Wicked Scam’, his debut release on Dub-Stuy, comprised of 4 tracks featuring Jahdan Blaakmore, Don Cotti and Lone Ranger.

The title track is a damning statement of the wicked scam politicians,  with NYC vocalist Jahdan delivering this strong, important message perfectly. His vocals compliment Von D’s heavy riddim featuring live guitar and catchy grooves – while staying true to roots music.

Continuing the social theme, London’s dancehall singer and producer Don Cotti blesses the mic with ‘Mek A Truce’. Breaking and changing while incorporating the more ‘dub’ sound, Von D and Cotti have created yet another vibrant track, sure to shake any sound system!

The last feature track see’s Von team up with Lone Ranger, an artist who originally started his career with Coxsone’s Studio One in the 1970s. A perfect mixture of old style vs new and this track demonstrates that.

Von D takes full control on the last tune on the EP titled ‘Surrealiste Skank’. This one includes Bunny Lee and Lee Perry chopped up samples, before Von D drops his own ‘dubwise’ studio concoction on ‘Surrealiste Skank’, a dedication to dub music.

‘Wicked Scam’ will be out on November 3rd on 12″ vinyl and digital. You can pre-order the release here > smarturl.it/ep003

We thoroughly enjoyed this EP, so big thanks to Von D and Dub-Stuy for creating this memorable music.
