Dutch-born, USA-based Martyn’s 3024 label has been in blistering form over the past year with some incredible releases by some of the best names in game right now including Yak, Pugilist, TSVI and many more.
Next up on the imprint is The Passenger EP, an exciting 4 track collaboration project between Martyn himself and Cosmic Bridge Records owner Om Unit.
According to Om Unit, the EP is “inspired by the city of Bristol and acts as an homage to the city that has shaped both producer’s sound”, as well as “a love letter to techstep innovators Nico and Ed Rush”.
As expected from a collaboration between these two legendary producers, the EP is superb. A real electronic exploration, it switches up tempos and styles throughout, whether it be the hypnotic, dubbed out-ness of opening track Tracksuit Dub, the relentless and dark nature title track Passenger, the breakbeat eeriness of Shapes or the melding uptempo and downtempo rhythms in closing track Skimming.
This one definitely lives up to expectations.
