Stepping up for our 99th mix in our UKBMix series is US producer/DJ Raikov.
The California-based artist supplies us with a weighty mix filled with a mixture of dubs and his own productions, this one is a perfect combination showcasing his versatile skills as a DJ and selector.
With releases on For the Heads and Sublimated Sounds, a number of DJs have been supporting him over the years who appreciate his fresh take on the dubstep sound and it’s safe to say Raikov’s productions are something to keep your eyes, and ears on!
When we spoke to him about his mix, Raikov said, “I put this mix together with the intention of mimicking what you would hear from me in a live setting. In this sense, the whole tracklist is loaded with dubplates from all my homies and myself. Usually, when playing a set I like to start with something a bit lighter on the ears and gradually ease into the heavier sounds; this mix was a perfect example of that! When DJing I prefer mixing on 3-4 decks so I can really take full advantage of my blends; I recorded this one on two CDJs and one turntable to ensure some of my vinyl collection made it on record as well. Enjoy!”
Lara started out at the age of 16 as a blogger, setting up her own platform, MakeItGood which ran for 5 years, featuring mixes and interviews with Dubstep artists in collaboration with FatKidOnFire.
“With over 6 years experience working in music promotion, I feel so glad to be running UKBM again, creating more space for new comers and talented artists. It’s amazing to be able to promote and support Bass culture!”
