It’s been quite a couple years for Phossa.
When it comes to 140 bpm music, the young UK-based producer has built a reputation as one of the best producers in the game right now, with a slew of collaborative releases with his partner in crime Glume including the Buried EP on White Peach and Opal EP on Crucial Recordings.
Now he has turned his attention to a solo project, set for a release on UK label Panel, entitled Settle EP.
The EP is built up of 4 brand new tracks, each one diverse, original and truly magical and an unquestionably a perfect showcase of the quality of this producers craft.
First track Ice offers something different. Starting with a buildup of atmospheric sonics and Oritental-like notes crescendoing into a organic boom-bap inspired break and laden with gorgeous chords. Next track Settle hypnotises with it’s rolling, rasping percussion and glacial notes whilst Kindred excites with its Grime inspired synths and bouncing percussion. The work is rounded off by Red Velvet, another beautiful piece of music which carries shades of Bonobo.
In this writer’s opinion, this is Phossa’s finest work to date.
