The Bass Drop – Early October

With autumn arriving and longer nights upon us, here are five darker releases to take you into the new season.

We start to embrace the autumnal shift now that the nights are longer than the days again.   As the long nights draw in again, here are five new releases on a darker tip for those epic club nights.

BUKEZ FINEZT  –  HOMEWORK / 22DUBS

We have come to expect that Bukez Finezt will offer up neck snapping harsh snares coupled with stomach rumbling bass lines and he continues in the same vein here.  In fact, the Berlin producer leaves you in awe of his ability to hit hard but also bring multiple layers of change and story to his productions.  Homework continually grabs the ears attention whilst bolstering feel for the body.  And the flip, 22Dubs shows why Bukez is considered one of the Finezt in the grime scene.  Check this out on Next Level Dubstep  Listen / Buy

IVY LAB  –  PRESS PLAY

Since releasing the acclaimed Death Don’t Always Taste Good in 2018 on their own 20/20LDN imprint, Ivy Lab have continued to produce genre-straddling sounds, verging on hip hop, drum and bass and grunge with choice vocal placing to create fully immersive and warming tracks.  The London duo have the ability to transport you to a different place with their music and Press Play on Dirtybird US does that with its four inventive and upfront sounds.  Listen / Buy

BEOLOST  –  PROPHECY

Throughout the worst moments of the pandemic where tragedy hit, Beolost continued to put forward heart-warming electronic, bassy and ambient future garage.  The Italian producer managed to touch fans with music that would reflect the mood, both at home and internationally.  This time he releases three tracks where his drum play showcases a mastery of differing time signatures.  Along with beautifully interwoven vocal samples, the listen is easy and pensive.  Releasing with Future Cosmetiq  Listen / Buy

MANI FESTO  –  HIGHER

Full throttle, pumping action in this bold release from Mani Festo.  Dancefloor style breaks with serious weight and throwback chords blast throughout this EP with some respite from choice vocal placements.  Selectors can choose from any of these four pounding techno, speed garage, rave edged tracks mid-set to energise the dance floor.  Out on Flightpath Listen / Buy

YYYYYYY1  –  XXTBA / 3D DRILL

An experimental bass driven four track release with two fun remixes, one from Issa No-No and the other by Yyyyyyy1 himself.  Breaks, chops and samples creep in from all directions to put together a different EP with a strong focus on atmosphere.  Dropping on Music Mail Germany Listen / Buy
