[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We see the arrival of September, the summer seems to have already faded and the children are heading back into schools. Normality, as we craved, has returned. Fortunately that means we have some great releases from hard working producers about to drop.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]
NOIRE & AKITO – RIPPLES
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]This EP is coiled and ready to spring into a massive sound system. Ripples took over a year and half to create as Bristol based Noire and London based Akito had slender opportunity to link up. Clearly both parties were itching to get back into the club and this release will serve any fire selector who is ready to let off now that the leash has been released. Five tracks of mood bending, entrancing, body rocking jams out on London label Sans Absence Listen / Buy[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]
KENNY DAVIS & DULLAH BEATZ – RADIOACTIVE EP
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”12141″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A four track EP combination between two heavyweights in the grime scene. Experience exudes out of this heavy hitting release, bringing forth instrumental tracks that any MC would salivate at the thought of getting lyrical on. Kent based Kenny Davis has become known for his addictive beats over the last 6 years, joining Earthspin records since its inception early in 2020. A record label founded by Dullah Beatz who is revered in the scene by many, including Wiley, Shabba D, Jammer, Flirta D and Big Narstie to name a few who were keen to collaborate with him on other projects. The pair have hit the label’s objective by landing tracks that can stand alone but would also suit a microphone frenzy. Listen / Buy[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]
MISTER T – SOUL SHOWER
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]An album that is comfortable sitting in its own groove. Greek producer Mister T has a gift for creating breaks in different genres. On occasion difficult to decipher where the influence comes from such is the variety in style. Funk is strong along with soul, dub, afro and electronica. The listen through this album can bring about memories of bell bottoms, move through to baggy bottoms and even touch you with the drainpipes at times. A pure representation of disco, boom bap and warm trip hop that aims to touch the soul, hence the name. Out on Cold Busted Listen / Buy[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]
APEX SHIFT – UP ALL NIGHT
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”12142″][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Experimental edged bass running through this 15 track album which recalls the things that we stay up all night doing. Some production incorporates glitchy computer game sounds, others reminiscent of phone calls, medicating, watching films or allowing the mind to run wild. Cleverly incorporated with loud, unusual musical sounds to bring together a very accomplished and listenable project which can healthily challenge the mindset. Out on Hydrolyze Listen / Buy[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]
BIOME – NIGHT FLIGHT
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”12143″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A deep, silky and gorgeous single from Biome creates an instant atmosphere and follows with a moving, stand out track. Interesting the whole way through and keeping a vibe, this one is a true triumph. So much so, that it has been marked for a single release after appearing on Deep Heads Dubstep Vol 3. Listen / Buy[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
Blemish spent 2020 reviewing Bass music releases by picking a highlight each week. His video reviews carried much needed uplifting messages which was a precursor to him playing a Bass heavy guest mix during the Heartless Crew’s show on BBC 1Xtra as a feel good set during the first lockdown. In addition, Blemish hosted some well watched interviews with future thinking producers such as DJ Eggs Legs, Kamran and turntablist Kypski. Blemish is excited about joining the UKBM team and endeavours to highlight new Bass releases to watch out for in a new feature, The Bass Drop.
