Hi, what are you looking for?
Lara started out at the age of 16 as a blogger, setting up her own platform, MakeItGood which ran for 5 years, featuring mixes and interviews with Dubstep artists in collaboration with FatKidOnFire. "With over 6 years experience working in music promotion, I feel so glad to be running UKBM again, creating more space for new comers and talented artists. It's amazing to be able to promote and support Bass culture!"
I'm a music journalist based in the U.K. with a love for bass music in many forms from drum & bass and dubstep to hip hop and grime. Always looking to check out new music as well as digging back for the classics and attending as many events as possible.
Nikki has worked in various positions in the Music industry for over ten years including Artist Management, Booking Agency and Record Label Management. She runs Synchronicity, Spentshell, UKBM and Manages Flowdan. "Bass does something to me. I absolutely immersed myself in Drum & Bass during my teens and early twenties, and when Dubstep came along I was thrown into that love once again, not just the music, but the whole community surrounding it. Working in the industry has been a dream for me, and being involved in such a vibrant scene means that I constantly come across incredibly talented individuals who I just want to shout about and that's what I use the UKBM platform for, to promote talent whether known or new."
Label Manager, Radio producer and playlist specialist, David Akosim has worn many hats in his music career. He spent 4 years at Radio 1 and 1Xtra pushing underground club music, working with the likes of Logan Sama, Sian Anderson, Deadmau5 and TQD. In addition David was part of the 1Xtra playlist team curating the daytime sound of the station. As manager of his own label, Resonate Sounds, David is at the forefront of pushing new innovative bass music in the U.K
Blemish spent 2020 reviewing Bass music releases by picking a highlight each week. His video reviews carried much needed uplifting messages which was a precursor to him playing a Bass heavy guest mix during the Heartless Crew's show on BBC 1Xtra as a feel good set during the first lockdown. In addition, Blemish hosted some well watched interviews with future thinking producers such as DJ Eggs Legs, Kamran and turntablist Kypski. Blemish is excited about joining the UKBM team and endeavours to highlight new Bass releases to watch out for in a new feature, The Bass Drop.
All round bass music enthusiast with a particular passion for Drum & Bass. Also make music and DJ under the name Tentronic
Mike has had an unhealthy obsession with bass music from a young age. Whether that's expressed through writing, DJing or producing anything from Grime to Drum and Bass and the whole spectrum of cultures in between.
El has been a listener and raver of bass music since the early noughties, and still counts Grime and UKG as her favourite types of music. Her personal blog The Randomness of Unicorns, was born in 2014, and since then she has accepted many different writing opportunities off the back of its recognition. "Writing for UKBM is a dream come true. I get to combine my passion for writing with my love of bass music and its culture. "
Robert Hattaway is a Berlin-based writer, DJ and occasional producer. He also runs a mix series called off-cuts.
A lover of Bass. Be it: Dub, Dubstep, Jazz, Drum & Bass, Electro, Braindance, Jungle, Acid, Grime, Breakcore, Drill, and more. Music with good bass has always impressionably rattled my heart. I make music, in a "Soup" approach: combining favorite flavors of different genres and styles, fusing them together, and seeing what sonic flavors emerge, with a similar approach to Djing.
